Ok.... so I think it was just going to take a little bit of time for my body to adjust to the whole swimming thing again. After convincing three more people to do the race yesterday I was off to the pool. i picked up Dave and we headed to Coronation. Dave wanted to do the run for the Coronation Triathlon (Which he is doing next week) and I wanted to get in a half hour swim.
Coronation is a beautiful 50m pool.... the problem is that 50 meters seems way too long! I have been doing backcrawl most of the time so I decided to practice a bit of front crawl and see if I could do it without drowning. I managed to do my 350m swim with about of third of it on my front and the rest on my back. i felt totally out of breath and exhausted after each round of front crawl but I have a feeling it will get better. The bonus is that I did my 350m in 10 minutes!!!! I knocked off a minute and a Half! I think I need to really work on this front crawl thing... As exhausting as it is, it is much more efficient.
After swimming hard for a while I did a few lengths of kicking and a couple of elementary backstroke for my cool down. All in all I walked out feeling tired but happy. I am now feeling a little bit more confident in my abilities as a triathlete-to-be!
Now.... on the figuring out the bike situation.... I am pretty sure I am not going to get the felt. I am ok with that though. Dave and I stumbled across a website called pinkbike over the weekend. It is basically a huge biking forum and they have a giant buy and sell section. I found three completely reasonable bikes that I want to check out and Dave has been calling them for further information. All of the bikes are located in Calgary so it looks like we might be making a trip to C-Town! Perfect! It's always fun to find an excuse to go visit Kevin and Teryn in Calgary (2 members of our wedding party).
Today is run day but it's kind of snowing.... hopefully this weather lets up and I can run outside. If not..... I will hit the treadmill at the gym.
Talk to you soon!
Steph
